Casey At The Bat

The Story

Casey at the Bat ISBN: 0698115570
From Leah Polacco

Added text along with Patricia Polacco’s illustrations, follow Ernest Lawrence Thayer’s Casey At The Bat, A Ballad of the Republic, sung in the year 1888.
The timeless poem tells the tale of "mighty" Casey of the Mudville nine, who steps up to bat and strikes out during the crucial moment of a baseball game.
Polacco’s words link the poem to Little League, and advise young readers, "Don’t count your hits before they’re pitched."
