NEW RELEASES: On June 3rd, we celebrate the release of Patricia's new book, "When Lightning Comes In A Jar." In this book, she shares with us all the joys of special family reunions!
"Trisha can hardly wait. Soon all the relatives will arrive, dozens of aunts and uncles and cousins, including her favorite cousins, Sandy and Lydia. And the fun will begin!
"Every year, the family rituals are the same: A great feast with at least a gazillion different kinds of Jell-O, a croquet game (no one can ever agree on the rules), and best of all, storytelling time, when all the great aunts pull out the family photo albums and try to top one another with their fantastic memories.
"But this year, Gramma has promised something new. She's going to teach them how to catch lightning in a jar. Trisha always knew her grandmother was magical, but this is a trick she cant wait to see. She doesnt know it yet, but 'lightning in a jar' will become the most remembered ritual of all... one she will proudly share with generations to come."
Back by popular demand! "Uncle Vova's Tree" will be re-released in September... JUST IN TIME FOR THE HOLIDAYS!
Speaking of Holidays... Patricia's new Holiday book, "Christmas Tapestry" is due to hit the shelves Sept. 23, 2002.
"When a bad leak ruins the sacristy wall in his fathers church, Jonathan Jefferson Weeks thinks his familys first Chritmas Eve in Detroit will be ruined too. Luckily, he and his father find a beautiful tapestry for sale in a second hand shop... just the thing to cover the damaged wall and give the church a festive look.
"But there is more to the tapestry, they discover, when an old Jewish woman who is visiting the church recognizes the lovely old cloth. It is her discovery that leads to the real miracle on this unforgettable Christmas Eve.
"Master storyteller and artist Patricia Polacco has outdone herself in this poignant holiday tale of two families, two faiths, and two lonely people united by a beautiful twist of fate."

ON A MORE PERSONAL NOTE: We had a quiet holiday season here at Meteor Ridge. Family and friends all gathered for cheer and fun. My animals and I snuggled in for our "long winter's nap" and I worked on my next Holiday book, "Christmas Tapestry". It was nice to be drawing a holiday book while surrounded by the holiday sights, sounds, spirit, and winter's crisp air nipping at my nose. It was especially fun to work with my son and daughter-in-law on this project. I used them as models for this story and we had fun posing and taking photos together. We also had another great gathering at the Gaw Center with Santa, cheer and Holiday fun. We spent much of the winter getting my barn back into working order in anticipation of the arrival of my horses this summer.
Spring took its time arriving in Michigan. Just when we thought things had thawed, we'd get another cold snap. But I think it's finally here! The squirrels are racing, buds are breaking through and birds are building homes all over the surrounding properties. My bee tree is back and buzzing with activity. The sheep have been shorn, lawns rolled and raked, and fountains reinstalled... All in preparation for our summer season! Five new baby goats have joined us to keep my old guys on their toes, and my horses, Penny, Fanny and Dolly will be joining me on the farm as well!
Speaking of the farm, we are having an Open House open to the public in July. I'm really looking forward to it and hope to see you all there!
Have a happy and safe summer season. Play safe, be careful in the water, and remember to keep reading!
Take Care,
