The Princess of Pie Land
by Patricia

Once upon a time there lived a little girl named Hope and her mother.
"It's such a dreary and rainy day, what can I do?" Hope asked.
"Let me see. Oh! Why don't you go explore the attic, you could have a tea party or something. Don't forget to wear a jacket, it could be cold!" Hope's mom suggested.
"Okay," Hope sighed reluctantly. She put on her coat, and trotted upstairs to the attic. Slowly, she opened the creaky door.
"Oh!" she gasped.
"Look at all those lovely things to dress up in!" she exclaimed. Quickly, Hope sprinted over to the pile of objects heaped on the floor.
"I can be a hula dancer!" Hope put a flowered lei around her neck and danced a few steps.
"Even better, I can be an Indian Princess!" Hope draped an old Indian blanket over her shoulders.
"What's this dust catcher anyway?" Hope shook off the dust of an old Chinese umbrella.
"Look at those shoes! They look magical! I thing I'll try them on!" Hope slid on two white heeled slippers.
All of a sudden Hope was in a totally different place!
"Sir, could you tell me where I am? What is going on?" Hope was referring to the people running everywhere.
"You're in Pie Land. The horrible people from Whip Cream Land are squirting us with whip cream cans! Run!" the man ran off.
So, wait a minute! People are squirting each other with whip cream?!? Hope decided she'd better hide. Hope reached the entrance of a cave, and felt around blindly in the darkness, until she touched something.
"Who are you? What are you doing here? Where are you from?" a voice screeched.
"I'm Hope Springfield, and I'm from the Earth in 2002. Some guy told me we were being invaded by whip cream so I decided to hide in here." Hope explained.
"Oh. Alas, 'tis true. The people in Pie Land and in Whip Cream Land never have gotten along. We throw giant pies on them, and they squirt us with whip cream. I am the Queen Penelope Priscilla of Pie Land." the Queen introduced herself with a flourish. Suddenly, voices filled the cave.
"I know I heard something in here! Men, get those whip cream cans ready!" an officer yelled. Hope decided to take a stand.
"If you don't get out of here, I'm going to drop a huge pie on you!" Hope said in her sternest voice.
"I hate to say this, but run for your lives, men!" and away they ran. The people made Hope Princess of Pieland for making Pie Land a safe and peaceful village once again.
It was later that day, and the Queen and Hope were sitting on lounge chairs by the pie shaped pool.
"Don't you just love it here?" the Queen breathed in.
"Being on television shows, swimming in pie shaped pools, and eating pie all day are great, but I miss my mother!" Hope explained.
"Okay, you may go home, but let me give you something. This crown is a symbol of everything you did for Pie Land. Please come back to visit!" the Queen placed a gold crown on Hope's head. Hope thanked her, and took off the magic shoes. Once again she was back home.
"Hope! Open the door!" Hope's mother was banging on the locked attic door.
"Oh, I'm sorry!" Hope opened the door.
"It's dinner time, dear. Oh, did you have a good time?" Hope's mom asked.
"Yes! I even went to........" Hope's voice trailed off as mother and daughter went down the stairs together.
