"The Sad Caterpillar"
By Lydia

There once lived a caterpillar named Sue. Sue was a very sad caterpillar. You see, Sue lived in the woods all alone; there were lots more creatures in the woods like butterflies. This did not please her, because their glittery silk wings just fluttered around, when she was only two colours (orange and black), and they had much more fun then pore old Sue (they got to fly around with their lovely pink or yellow or even white wings), when pore old Sue lay on a leaf and ate and ate. One morning as Sue sadly ate a leaf, a colourful butterfly flew over to the same leaf that she was eating, and said, “Why are you so sad” Sue said “ Because I have nothing to do and it’s so sad for me because
you are so colourful and nice and me, I am just a caterpillar with two old colours -orange and black.” Sue sighed “ I wish I could be a butterfly”
The butterfly said “Don’t worry, you know I once was a caterpillar but something weird happened to me and I turned into a butterfly! Sorry I got to go now my mates calling me, nice talking with you, chow!” Poor old Sue felt very hungry, so she decided to start a new leaf, “Now I think I might have another leaf” she thought, so she ate the leaf, and decided to have another, then another and another and just one more. By the next day she felt very full and decided to make a place to have a little rest so she set to work. Soon all her work was done and she decided to rest in her cosy little place. This little rest took three weeks and then she came out and did not know that she was a butterfly.
She felt very good. But her friends did not know where she was they were calling out to her “Sue where are you?” Sue yelled back “I am here on the third leaf with a thing I made!” Her friends saw the cocoon and came over. One of her friends (called Jack) said, “Why! You are a butterfly!” “I AM A BUTTERFLY!” Sue shouted and flew to a daffodil with her new wings.
